It's been revealed that Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchette will be reuniting to star in director Guillermo del Toro's new film Nightmare Alley. The feature is the director's first since his Oscar-winning The Shape of Water and will see the two actresses appear alongside each other for the first time

It’s been revealed that Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchette will be reuniting to star in director Guillermo del Toro’s new film Nightmare Alley.

The feature is the director’s first since his Oscar-winning The Shape of Water and will see the two actresses appear alongside each other for the first time since Carol. Bradley Cooper is also confirmed as a co-star, while Willem Dafoe, Pete Krumbein, Toni Collette
Michael Shannon, Ron Perlman, and Toni Collette are all rumoured to be onboard.

The film is based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name and is set amongst the seedy underbelly of carnival life. It follows a con-man called Stan (Bradley Cooper) who teams up with a female psychiatrist (Rooney Mara) to scam people out of their money.

A release date is yet to be announced.
